Occasionally my mom can be actually stubborn, i have been telling her for the last 2 years that she needs to update the furnace in the basement, although she refused to guess that it was time; She kept telling myself and others that the furnace was working just fine.
I had to help her service the furnace twice and the furnace was definitely not working fine.
I could not convince my mom to service the furnace before there was a big problem! Last weekend she called myself and others because there wasn’t any heat in the apartment at all. I wasn’t surprised that the furnace stopped. I told my mom that she needed to call an Elgin furnace service company… My mom lives just outside of Elgin and I knew that the Elgin furnace service company would have better prices on repairs and updatement parts for the furnace; When my mom found out how much it was going to cost for a new furnace, she refused to spend money for all of the repairs. She told my sister and I that she would be just fine using a space furnace until the next season and then she would worry about the furnace. It’s only January and there is still multiple actually long weeks of chilly weather in Elgin, IL, however there is certainly no way that my mom can spend the entire Winter separate from the furnace, so my sister and I decided that the two of us are going to spend money for the repairs. I’m sure my mom will put up a fight and try to resist, but I can’t spend all Winter worrying about if my mom is going to freeze to death.
