Cocoa is rich in history and provides fun experiences. The historic downtown shopping district includes stores and restaurants that have incredible views as well as great food. It’s easy to find a lovely place to eat, and for someone who needs a beautiful venue for a big party or a wedding, there is no problem finding one in Cocoa. Cocoa’s charming downtown includes a gorgeous playhouse, museums, and cute little shops. Cocoa is in Brevard County and close to the space centers and the beautiful Florida beaches. Visiting the famous space museum is so much fun for kids, and almost everyone goes outside to watch launches when they are scheduled. There are special events taking place all the time, including typical American celebrations for Independence Day, the Cocoa BBQ & Blues festival, Halloween in the Cocoa Village, and Saturday farmer’s markets. Cocoa was one of the first cities in Florida to boast about having air conditioning in their downtown buildings and even homes. One enterprising builder refused to build any house in Cocoa without central cooling, even though that was very uncommon at the time. Truly, it is impossible to live anywhere in florida, including Cocoa, without good a/c. South Florida does not really need heating; in fact, many buildings do not have a heater of any type, but from central Florida north, most people do occasionally use heating for brief periods of time in the winter.
