I have lived in Buffalo all my life, and though there are a few unfamiliar traditions like Dyngus Day, it is a normal city to live in. I mean Buffalo wings were created here, and they are loved by so many across the nation. In fact, we eat over one billion wings during the Super Bowl alone. So, buffalo wings are pretty popular, which makes the city of Buffalo popular in its own way. Do you know what else was invented in Buffalo? The modern air conditioning system. It was invented in 1902 by Willis Carrier, and Carrier has remained a major player in the game over 100 years later. The crazy part about that is, Buffalo only gets hot for a couple months during the year, so we don’t use a lot of air conditioning compared to other places in the country. We do use our heating a lot more because we experience brutally cold temperatures. We are always on the list of cities that experience the coldest temperatures and on average we have about 125 days during the year where the temperature is below freezing. So, we must have good heating in our homes. I have a furnace in my house, and it has been my saving grace on many of those days when the weather is unforgiving. You can wear layers of clothing outside, but nothing is better than the warmth from the heat provided by the furnace in your home. I make sure that I schedule regular maintenance because I would hate for my furnace to malfunction on a night where I needed it the most. Thankfully, that has not happened to me, and I plan on keeping it that way.
