I had been trying to get our ex to give me a divorce for more than 2 years plus I was afraid it would never happen. It was in the Springtime of 2010, when I found out the divorce laws were increasing in our state… For years, Buffalo, NY plus all of NY had such antiquated ideas on divorce that I wasn’t sure I could ever divorce him unless all of us moved out of state. I knew he would not transport since Buffalo, NY was his hometown, although I was willing. I was ready to do anything I needed to get this guy out of our life. In 2010, the state of NY finally came into the future plus got rid of their antiquated laws pertaining to divorce. I could finally file for divorce with nothing other than a lack of breakdowns in the marriage, plus all of us had been living apart for a year. Irreconcilable differences were now a reason for divorce, however they had changed legal services in the state of NY, plus I no longer wanted to transport from Buffalo, NY… When our marriage was finally officially ended, I still had to consider what all of us were going to do with the teenagers! Both of us could take care of most of the paperwork that pertained to the teenagers without the help of a lawyer, however all of us wanted to make sure they did everything regularly, like anything else, when having a marriage dissolved, all of us were told it would be best if all of us were to use a lawyer for everything involving divorce plus family law.
