When I was a kid, I never went to a hotel with my parents and spent the night.
- We didn’t have a lot of money, so we stayed home unless there was an emergency or we were going to be with family.
One time I remember going to a hotel when I was 15 years old. My basketball team had a tournament and it was on Saturday and sunday. The school paid for all of us to stay in a hotel overnight. My friend Jack and I were in the same room together. Jack and I snuck out of our room in the middle of the night so we could see what kind of foods were in the vending machine. I bought three different types of candy bars and some chips and soda. We stayed up until the middle of the night and we were both really tired in the morning when it was time to get up. That was the only time that I ever stayed in a hotel when I was a kid. As an adult and a traveling salesman, I have to travel a lot for work. Recently I stayed in Lee’s summit, Missouri for a 5-day conference. The Lee’s Summit Missouri hotel was easily one of the nicest places that I have ever been. It was a brand new hotel and the amenities were five stars. The hotel had a heated pool and room service that was available 24 hours a day. The heating and air conditioning system had a central thermostat to control the temperatures and ducting throughout the room. I wasn’t even in a suite and my room was nicer than a lot of the places in Lee’s Summit that I have been in the past.
