I’ve lived in Lowell for the past 5 years and it’s been quite an experience for my fiance and I.
- we both relocated to the area after I landed a new job, and chose to make this our home.
However, it was challenging from day one because we grew up in a different area. Having grown up and gone to school in the south, moving up north was no walk in the park. Things are a bit different here, however the weather was the biggest shocker. We were accustomed to long and hot summers with nice and mild winters. So, when we moved to Lowell, we weren’t prepared for the cold and long winter months. I remember the realtor who sold us our house advising us to have someone check out the heating system before winter. She kept saying winters in the area were no joke, and she was right. We were lucky that we heeded her advice and hired an HVAC technician who did heating maintenance in our home. Because when winter came about, the freezing temperatures and snow storms were shocking. Still, we kept trying to get used to this new area and we have now made it our home. We even have a little one running around the house and feel so happy to be living in Lowell, MA. For sure this is a good place to visit if you want to go on a vacation since there’s so much to see and do. Our first summer we loved touring the old mills and the vibrant art scene. There are also music festivals that we attend each year.
