About 10 years ago, I got offered a job to work at a commercial HVAC business in Fort Collins, Colorado.
I had a couple of friends that were living in Fort Collins, so I decided to move there.
The job turned out to be a bust. I didn’t really like the owner of the business and I thought it would be a lot easier to start a business of my own. Unfortunately, I didn’t have what it takes to start a commercial HVAC business in Fort Collins, Colorado. There was a lot of paperwork involved as well as insurance, healthcare, employees, and workers compensation. I decided to find a different commercial and residential HVAC company in Fort Collins. There were several different businesses and I applied to several different positions. I got a job offer to work at a contracting company that handles all new construction. I didn’t know if it was going to be fun or anything interesting to me, but it turns out that I absolutely love working for a contracting company that only handles all new construction. I have built a solid reputation at the company and I have had multiple promotions in the past 5 years. I’m almost making six figures a year now, because I am head of sales in the area. I have about ten different employees that report directly to me and I have meetings with the owner weekly. I even qualify for bonuses every quarter. Moving to the city was one of the best decisions that I ever made and I’m glad I didn’t stay where I was unhappy.
