We had to come home early after the kids called

My hubby and I have three kids and we rarely get out of the house alone.

Sometimes when we go to the grocery store, we leave the kids at the house.

The grocery store is right around the corner and it is the only time we really get privacy. When my mom and dad offered to keep the kids all weekend so my hubby and I could go to a rock and roll concert, I was ecstatic. My hubby scored third row tickets to see one of our favorite hair bands from the ’80s. A few hours before the concert, my hubby and I got a phone call from my parents. My mom was really sick and tested positive for covid. They could not keep the kids. We didn’t want to cancel our plans, so we decided to leave the kids home alone. My mom and dad were on speed dial and only a few minutes away in case of an emergency. Around 10:00 at night there was a short intermission from the band. I walked outside and looked at my phone and I had seven missed calls from my daughter. I looked at my text messages before I called my daughter. She was frantic because the air conditioner wasn’t blowing cold air. There was a problem with the air conditioner and my hubby and I were not there to fix it. We had to come home early and leave the concert before it was over. We could have called the air conditioner repair business before we left the concert, but both of us were worried that they would arrive before us and not wait until we got home.
