Since the heat stays at my feet, I actually save money.
Living in Elgin means that I am familiar with cold weather. I am about forty five minutes away from Chicago, which is great. I get the small town feeling without the stress of being in a city. I also am near anything I could possibly want. If I want to see a professional sports team, theater, event, or do some good shopping, the city is right there. In Elgin I get to have a quieter, safer place to live. I also like that I can afford a larger plot of land with a nicer home. I don’t need to be right in the heart of the city. I could probably only afford a small apartment in the city. Instead I live in a nice house with all the perks. I recently did some upgrading in my home. With the cold winter weather being so prominent, I decided to privatize my heating equipment. I upgraded to a boiler system and stored it in my basement. I then had piping attached to it and redid my floors. The pipes installed under the new flooring. Now water is heated by the boiler and flows through the pipes throughout my house. There are no hot and cold spots due to the pipes being all over. The hydronic heating method means no air is rising, stirring up dust, or creating cold spots. Since the heat stays at my feet, I actually save money. It is quiet, cleaner, and more efficient. I also love that it is stored away. There is no giant, bulky unit taking up my living room space. Everything is tucked away from harm and from prying eyes.
