Traveling the American Road

One of the draws of Lakeland, FL that attracts nature lovers, is Lake Morton, and it is said the swans that swim there are direct descendants of the swans donated to the park by Queen Elizabeth in 1957.

I could not wait to get to Lake Morton & see if the swans really were mute, or if it was just a local legend.

I knew what swans sounded like, because I lived next to a lake that had been inhabited by swans, then they were loud & obnoxious. They were also absolutely territorial, however you consistently knew when they were nesting, because they would chase you down if you got too near the lake. I wondered if the same was tscheme with Lake Morton. I wondered which were the mute swans, because there were both colorless & black swans, then we figured it out abruptly when the black swans started chasing some unsuspecting teenagers, but along with swans, there were turtles, birds, & other types of wildlife at the lake. We spent nearly half a day there, until my friend and I realized how hot it had become & that I had forgotten my camera; My hubby didn’t suppose the PC was taking absolutely nice pictures, although I was enjoying myself, and eventually, the 100 degrees & 100% humidity was getting to us, & my friend and I had to go to the hotel where my friend and I had air conditioner. I hoped to return to Lake Morton now that my friend and I got some air conditioner, & I had my camera in hand. I wanted to have as many memories from Lakeland, FL as my friend and I could take household with us.

My mom wanted to go to bingo the night before my buddy and I left! While there, the air conditioner went out, and then it started to thunder and lightning. I had to wait until she finished her bingo game before my buddy and I could leave. It was a nice thing my daughter-in-law drove, because I couldn’t see through all the rain and lightning. I had to drive 500 miles before my buddy and I got out of the storm, however my buddy and I got out before the hurricane hit. The next time my buddy and I go to Jacksonville, FL, I plan on going in the winter season when I don’t need to worry about hurricanes or rapidly changing temperatures over 100 degrees.

For some reason, many people guess it is always tepid and humid in AL, but summer can be brutal, however winter time is my number one time of year… The afternoons are in the low to mid fifties, however days are cold, my nice friend and I get absolutely little snow, however it is often near cold at night, but on those cold days, my nice friend and I want to head someplace where it is warm.

My nice friend and I could always stay apartment and love the heat of the heating system, however that’s no fun… Birmingham has an excellent escape room experience that offers a few different swings on their escape room experience. I guess someday I could pass for a real singer, if I didn’t have such a horrible voice, however no one tells you that unless it’s your friends, despite the fact that I don’t listen to them. My nice friend and I find plenty of things to do where I can excel, even if it isn’t in my escape artistry or my ability to sing. My nice friend and I end up finding other things that will occupy our cold winter time days in Birmingham, AL.

Minneapolis was far from being a quiet city, & I wouldn’t want to go out alone at evening, however even in the winter my pal and I found things I enjoy doing. If I get to return to Minneapolis, I hope it is in the summer time where I can see the animals in their homes cold to death, or getting snowed on.

I hadn’t been back to Lowell for almost five years. I went to California for school, as well as that is where I stayed. I’m not saying that I didn’t miss Lowell, because I did.
