My husband is a big time hiker.

When he was a kid his family would go on these long hiking trips and make camp in the wilderness.

They would bring their own food, fish, pitch a tent, and pee in the woods. My husband loved it and talked about it fondly. That was not my experience as a kid. We didn’t camp ever. We always had laundry, a bathroom, and restaurants nearby. It has been quite a compromise for the two of us. When we vacation my husband always wants to hike and camp. I force myself to find us long adventurous hikes where we can see amazing sights and my husband can feel like this is a big movie moment. I basically just stand around tired and bored. I typically refuse to camp during the hikes. Well this year my husband is turning 30. I figure I owe him a big trip. I have planned for us to fly into Phoenix, Arizona. We are going to immediately hike the Grand Canyon. I found online that you can hike down the canyon and camp there if you wanted to. I don’t want to, but I know he will be all over it. I am planning on one day of hiking and two nights in the canyon. That is going to suck for me, but I know my husband will really like it. Then when we are done we will enjoy the city of Phoenix and have access to a shower and a bathroom. That part will be totally for me.

I ended up visiting my friend Taylor who lives in Plano, Texas.

It is amazing how hot the state of Texas is.

She gets into the 90s all summer long. The heat is just brutal and it is a dry, stale heat that sort of makes it hard to breathe. I am not used to that at all. My summer season means I can wear shorts and a tank top during the day. At night I need a jacket. My family home doesn’t bother with any air conditioning. It simply doesn’t get warm enough and stay that way. Taylor has her air conditioning equipment running basically 24/7. In the summertime, she relies on multiple indoor air handlers all set to the same temperature. It is required to make the entire house a nice, cooled down temperature. But, the shoe is on the other foot. When it comes to the winter season I know that she isn’t too worried about heating. I believe she owns a ductless heat pump that occasionally gets used on a colder night. For me, my household has three separate heating systems. I need one upstairs, one in the living room and one in the kitchen. It is wild how we both live in the United States and the weather has us prepared for vastly different conditions. I am prepared for snow and power outages. She is prepared for intense heat that doesn’t go away. My friend seems very happy in her area of Plano, Texas. I know I wouldn’t want to live there full time though.

In Lowell, MA you can’t get by separate from a standard working furnace; Our winter season season comes early and just doesn’t let up for months on end, and i ended up owning three separate furnaces. I have a two story house and the heat just can’t get everywhere since I live in an older home, and there is no HVAC duct so I have to own sit alone heaters. I have a ventless gas heater in the living room, a gas fireplace in the living room, and a Moore heater upstairs. It is quite extravagant during the chilly season to run all three heaters. I have lived in Sioux Falls, SD all my life and I have never gone mini hockeying, then i know it’s unusual , right? Well anyway I met this woman online that I made a linkion with, then my nice friend and I decided to meet in woman and have a first date together, then she requested space hockey.

I thought maybe it was a typo or something but then I looked it up.

If you look up things I like to do doing in Sioux Falls, SD, hockey is something that comes up. It is a year around miniature hockey course that uses ultraviolet lights. It looked pretty cool and I was willing to supply it a try. Mini hockeying for a first date was a particularly unusual experience! The woman was evidently someone who hockeys all the time and was excellent. I had never hockeyed before. I was terrible. My ball went all over the locale and I had trouble finding it in the dark. The actual space hockey locale was pretty and it was a kooky fun first date. However, I don’t know if it would be a must in Sioux Falls for me. I am more of a biker or hiker than a hockeyer. Well it was a nice end result. My nice friend and I hockeyed, got lunch and my nice friend and I will get a second date. I pushed to decide what my nice friend and I do for date two. I am going to plan a hike and a picnic for us. I am hopeful that she is the type of woman that is game for anything. It is possible that she will not like hiking as much as I hated mini hockeying.

I know rather than stay home, my friend and I should get a hotel for a few mornings. I found that St. Petersburg is a undoubtedly nice day trip for us. There are plenty of things I like to do in St. Petersburg. There is the beach, bars, parks, plus shopping. I undoubtedly just want to get a nice hotel, eat a fantastic breakfast, plus see a film. I know it will be so enjoyable to have a beachfront hotel plus to kick back for our ten years, and sadly the time of year that my friend and I got together isn’t a moderate one! Our birthday is in October. So the St. Petersburg weather is around 70 degrees usually. That is way too cold to appreciate the ocean waves. It also might be too cold for the heated hotel pool. I don’t undoubtedly care though. I don’t mind just looking at the water plus relaxing. I also don’t mind enjoying household heating rather than AC, then for me, the St. Petersburg weather is amazing no matter what. winter season or summer time season I would take a trip to the beach there. So I am pushing my hubby to book the beachfront hotel plus my friend and I will make it work.

I lived with different household rules in the midwest. A lot of it came down to being in a completely different environment altogether. Up in our state we were close to a lot of lakes and experienced higher winds than the areas in the state where it was devoid of water. The HVAC tech warned me about leaving my windows open because of the dust and fungal spores that can get in from outdoors and create havoc for you and your family. Some people don’t try to maintain their indoor humidity, especially in coastal areas near Tampa Bay and Old Tampa Bay. It’s the same in Pinellas County as it is here in Hillsborough County.

If you get the chance to go to Orland Park, IL, you need to take time to visit the Centennial Water Park.

• I love water parks, and as it goes, Centennial Water Park, may be one of the best I have ever visited.

When the temperatures soar into the nineties, it is hard to find someplace where you can cool down that doesn’t involve an air conditioning unit. Water parks are the best place to be. Some of them can be quite expensive, but I haven’t found Centennial Water Park to be on that spectrum. It is reasonably priced and doesn’t just cater to the little kids. There are zero level pools that have just enough water to get their feet wet. They have the wading pools, and even a small tube ride for the kids, but it’s the splash down tube ride that is really exciting. My wife will spend all day on the Lazy River, because she says it’s relaxing. I want to have fun while chilling in the waters at the water park. I just wish they had a water park this big that was indoors and nearer to Orland Park, IL. Even when it is below zero, and snowing, it would be nice to be sliding down a long tube and landing in body temperature water. Centennial Water Park is amazing as long as it’s hot and sunny, but I am still looking for the perfect place to go in the winter. I guess on those cold days, I’ll just need to stay home and be happy that I have excellent heating to keep me warm.
